Endeavor is a nonprofit that transforms the economies of emerging markets by identifying and supporting high-impact entrepreneurs, and helping them break down barriers to success to create sustainable economic growth. In this talk, sponsored by the Stanford Center for Social Innovation, co-founder and CEO Linda Rottenberg shares how Endeavor got started in 1997 in Latin America, and what it's up to now.
She discusses the organization’s strategy, which includes pairing up American MBAs with enterprises abroad to provide business savvy and support. She elaborates on early success stories, what the entrepreneurs are doing, and how Endeavor continues to engage top business leaders and venture capitalists in the United States and abroad to help aspiring entrepreneurs thrive in nine countries––and counting––in Latin America, Africa, and West Asia.
Linda Rottenberg is CEO and co-founder of Endeavor, a leading nonprofit that supports high-impact entrepreneurship in emerging markets. Under her leadership, Endeavor has certified some 250 of the most promising and innovative business entrepreneurs in Latin America and South Africa, helping them to generate more than 30,000 high-quality jobs and close to one billion dollars in revenues. Prior to co-founding Endeavor, Rottenberg directed the southern cone expansion of Ashoka: Innovators for the Public, which broke new ground in the field of venture philanthropy by financing social entrepreneurs in more than 30 developing countries. Previously, she designed and launched the first interdisciplinary masters of law program in Argentina and managed the Yale Law School-U.S. A.I.D. linkage programs in Latin America.
Rottenberg is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the World Economic Forum’s steering committee on the digital divide, and the Yale Law School executive committee. She received her J.D. from Yale Law School and B.A., magna cum laude, in social studies from Harvard University.
