To be effective, nonprofits can no longer work alone in their silos. Today, serving the community meansbeing part of a broader movement by engaging with other nonprofit sectors, corporations and government agencies. In this talk, Dr. Kevin Danaher delivers an energizing call for the next generation of leaders to connect with the powers of nature, as well. He discusses topics such as the lessons to be learned from the natural cycles, the merging of science and spirituality, and healthy globalization that is based not on the linking of elites, but on the uniting of grassroots elements across the world.
To create productive, systemic change, Danahur argues, socially conscious leaders must recognize the interconnectedness among environmental, economic, and social justice issues. He recommends creative ways for groups to shake off the "us versus them" mentality and expand their networks.
Described by The New York Times as the “Paul Revere of globalization’s woes,” Dr. Kevin Danaher is a co-founder of Global Exchange, the noted human rights organization based in San Francisco. He is the author and/or editor of 11 books, including his latest, Insurrection: Citizen Challenges to Corporate Power. Danaher’s current projects include the Green Festivals (www.greenfestivals.org) and the Global Citizen Center (globalcitizencenter.org), a green real estate model that brings together
green retail, nonprofit organizations, and events in downtown San Francisco.
